K-12 CS Education and Professional Development Specialist (full-time, Davis, CA)

 

Barobo is seeking a K-12 CS Education and Professional Development Specialist, to be based in our main Davis, CA office. In this role you will build engagement and success through on-site and remote professional development and interactions with teachers, principals, and district administrators. You will need excellent interpersonal skills and instructional strengths in presenting meaningful, engaging presentations and workshops. If you are a creative problem-solver who can generate enthusiasm for math and Barobo’s programs and products, then you are just who we are looking for!

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional development for teachers, especially for computer science and programming in general and the AP Computer Science Principles course in particular

  • Provide support for schools and school districts using Barobo curriculum and products

  • Develop and manage relationships with district administrators, technology directors, STEM directors, and principals

  • Promote Barobo’s products and curriculum to school districts in California and throughout the United States via contacts, conferences, and online and in-person demos

  • Assist in curriculum development for K-12 computer science and engineering

  • Perform other related duties as assigned in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Experience in C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, MATLAB or any text-based programming language

  • At least two years experience teaching computer science and programming at the high school level, such as AP Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science A courses

  • Experience leading professional development for teachers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Be a fast learner and self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative and can run with ideas and projects

  • Available to travel

  • Excited to be in an entrepreneurial role on the growth of a business with a huge societal impact

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, or engineering

  • Possess US work authorization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Robotics and/or Arduino experience is a plus

K-12 Math Curriculum Developer (full-time, Davis, CA)

 

Barobo is in a high-growth stage and is seeking a K-12 Math Curriculum Developer, to be based in our Davis, CA office. In this position you will be taking a lead role in Barobo’s K-12 math curriculum and programs, especially in terms of their alignment with best practices and state standards and certification.

  • Take a lead role in Barobo’s efforts to obtain certifications of Barobo’s math curriculum in alignment with math standards and frameworks for various states

  • Collaborate in the ongoing development and refinement of standards-based lessons and activities for K-12 math education using Barobo’s “RoboBlocky” integrated learning environment and “Linkbot” robots

  • Provide support for schools and school districts using Barobo curriculum and products

  • Attentively listen to customer feedback and provide insights to the Barobo team

  • Assist in the promotion of Barobo’s products and curriculum to school districts throughout the United States via contacts, conferences, and online and in-person meetings

  • Assist in professional development for teachers

  • Perform other duties as assigned in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, physics, computer science, or engineering

Video Editor (part-time, remote)

​

Barobo is seeking a part-time video editor in a remote role for 10-15 hours/week. In this role you will work with Barobo’s Director of Learning and Community to professionally edit videos for student learning, professional development and training for teachers, and marketing and social media.

​

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in digital media, film production, or related field

  • At least 3 years experience in a full-time position for a company or organization as a video editor

  • Significant experience with Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Experience editing educational videos

  • Experience editing marketing videos

  • Experience with Vimeo and Dropbox

  • Be a fast learner and independent worker who is comfortable meeting deadlines

  • Located in the United States

Sales Intern (part-time, paid)

The Sales internship presents the opportunity to learn from and assist in Barobo’s sales strategy and process. 

​

Activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Learn about Barobo and its products and use that knowledge to promote Barobo products and educate our customers on how we solve their problems

  • Make phone calls and send emails to prospective customers in schools and school districts

  • Track responses to emails, phone calls, social media, and other marketing efforts

  • Assist in creating quotes and fulfilling and shipping orders

  • Answer questions and communicate with customers via phone and email

  • Assist in managing inventory and fulfilling orders

Math with Robotics Curriculum Intern (part-time, paid)

The Math with Robotics Curriculum internship presents the opportunity to learn from and assist in Barobo’s curriculum development process for K-12 math education. 

​

Activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the process of curriculum development for standards-based K-12 mathematics education

  • Use block-based programming and virtual and hardware robotics to develop lessons and activities that boost students’ understanding and achievement

  • Perform other related duties as assigned in a team environment

  • Background in mathematics, statistics, engineering, or physical science

Robotics Production Intern (part-time, paid)

​

Barobo is seeking interns to assist in the production of Barobo robots and related products. This is a paid internship and an opportunity to gain experience in a start-up environment.

​

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret process instructions, work orders, and reports

  • Solder electronic boards for small robots

  • Assemble mechanical components

  • Test product functional performance to ensure conformance to specifications

  • Pack packages with electronic and plastic components

  • Handle the shipment of robots and related products

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

  • Perform other related duties as assigned in a team environment

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • University student status (open to all majors)

  • Ability to work efficiently

  • High attention to detail

  • Self-motivation

  • Experience with soldering is a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

  • Must possess US work authorization
